Hello Dr.How,
Below is the review I promised to write for Imperial. Thank you very much. Feel free to shorten it if you feel it is too long!
I first came to Imperial Dental Specialist Centre in 2010 for braces treatment. I met Dr How Kim Chuan on my first visit here. I was told however that braces alone would not be a suitable treatment for me as I had a condition called a Class III skeletal deformity which basically meant that my lower jaw was protruding outwards and that my upper and lower teeth could not meet. My condition was so severe that my upper and lower teeth only had contact at the 4 teeth at the back. Braces alone would not be suitable in my case as I would require surgery to get a proper bite.
Over the years, my condition had caused numerous problems including difficulty in eat, speaking, and breathing and a profile which was not very pleasant. Dr How was excellent in explaining my condition and how I could go about getting the right treatment for my condition. I would require pre surgical braces for a few years, then surgery to fix the relationship between both my jaws and finally braces again to fine tune the bite.
I started my braces treatment at Imperial Dental Specialist Centre in 2012 with Dr How. I was recommended Invisalign aligners for my treatment. The treatment took about 2 years which gave me time to decide on the surgery itself. Jaw surgeries are complex procedures which require the orthodontist and the surgeon to work together on the patient. Dr How was extremely helpful in recommending various surgeons for my surgery and after much research and visits I decided on doing the surgery itself with Dr Winston Tan at Mount Novena Specialist Centre Singapore. The team at Imperial Dental continued to communicate with Dr Tan in Singapore throughout my treatment.
My pre surgical braces were complete in May 2014 and I was scheduled for surgery on May 12th in Singapore. The surgery went well and I was discharged after 3 days. Three weeks later I was back in Imperial Dental Centre for my post surgery braces which would help fine tune the bite. After roughly 1 year of post surgical braces, my entire treatment was complete on June 15th 2015.
I find Dr How Kim Chuan and the team at Imperial Dental Centre to be extremely skilled and knowledgeable especially in cases as complex as my condition. They are also helpful and patient and go out of the way to make sure you are comfortable and relaxed.
I would like to thank Dr How Kim Chuan, Dr Stephanie Chong, Dr Kong Sheng Earn, the nurses and the always smiling front desk girls for all their dedication and assistance over the past 3 years of me visiting Imperial Dental Specialist Centre Bangsar. I now have a perfect bite and it is thanks to the amazing team here!
